Only two years ago, the world was introduced to Kid Cudi with one of 2009′s most memorable songs, “Day ‘n’ Nite”. Now the Alternative rapper is one of the biggest artists in the hip-hop and indie world of music. Kid Cudi has proved that all rap music doesn’t have to all sound the same, and he has done that by combining all different genres together to create a genius sound that makes his debut album one of the best in hip-hop history. I have been anticipating the sequel to Man on The Moon since it’s release last year, and I am excited to say that the album has lived up to my expectations. This album is literally a diary, where Cudi is revealing everything he feels to the world. The album is full of happiness, sadness, confusion, excitement, and pretty much any other emotion you can think of. The best thing about the album is that, just like his debut, there aren’t necessarily any “radio-friendly” songs on the album. A lot of artists fill up their albums with safe songs that sound like everything else on the radio, but Kid Cudi is brave enough to give us real, raw, original music that isn’t made for radio, but for the fans that understand who Kid Cudi is.

In my opinion, the biggest and most exciting song on the album is “Ashin’ Kusher”, a feel-good uptempo where you can barely understand a word Kid Cudi says, but when broken down the lyrics are absolute genius. My personal favorite is “Worries”, a the second duet on the album with Mary J. Blige. You can feel the sincerity in this song, it shows that Kid Cudi’s music has substance, which is one of the reasons why I’m a fan. I don’t really have anything negative to say about the album, only that it drags on a bit, with a lot of same tempo songs back to back. Check out ratings of each track below, and an overall rating below. Don’t forger to get your copy of MOTM2 on November 9th, you won’t be dissapointed!

If You Don’t Know METRIC, Get To Knowing!

Last year, after hearing the song “Help, I’m Alive” on the radio, I went on a mission to find out who the artist was. After some googling, I found out it was a band called METRIC. Now, one year later, I’m happy to say that Metric is my favorite band, EVER! It’s hard to find a band or musician where you are in love with every single song, and that is the case with this band. Every song is amazing, and has a great message. Emily Haines, the lead vocalist, has a unique voice, that compliments their synthetic beats perfectly. I went to see them a few months ago at LUPOS in Providence, and it just made my love for them grow bigger. Their current single is called “Gold Gun Girls“, and shows exactly why Metric is so genius. If you don’t know about them, make sure you do you research and go buy their records, just like I did.
