Our hearts go out to one of the most talented musicians of our time, Amy Winehouse, who was found dead on the morning of July 23rd, 2011. While it is obvious that Amy was on a destructive path, we need to understand her state of mind, enjoy her music, and let her rest in peace.

MusicOverGunz Top 50 Music Video’s of All Time!

As I stated earlier this week, I have been working on this list for a long time now – 3 months to be exact. I’ve watched over 1000 videos by all types of artists, even in genres I don’t particularly listen to. I kind of pushed this off to the side a few weeks ago, but after the release of NME’s list of best videos, I was inspired to finish mine. In my opinion, ‘NME’ tried a bit too hard to make an alternative list of videos. I’ve seen this trend on my music publications time and time again. My mission with this list was to base it solely on the content and innovation, not on how much it was talked about, or who sung it. Yes, there may be some videos on her that were played a bit too many times on TV, but that doesn’t take away from the greatness of the videos. It isn’t right to exclude something great, just because it’s widely known, because there obviously is a reason why it got so big. So without ffurther adieu, here is my list of the top 50 music videos of all time!

50. Fatboy Slim – ‘Weapon of Choice’
49. Metric – ‘Monster Hospital’
48. A-Ha – ‘Take On Me’

NEW ARTIST: KEEM – “DownFall”

This is a hot new track by a local artist from Providence, RI. It has a raw beat, and a sick flow to it, so make sure you check it out and leave a comment. Keep it locked on M.O.G. for more from ‘Keem’ and other new artists!

Radio Personality Charlamagne Disses Lil’ Mama To The Point of Tears

I’m not a Lil’ Mama fan, and I actually agree with what ‘Char’ said about her not being known for much. The problem is that he kept saying the same thing over and over again, as to purposely try to break her down. Only a sick person can do that. I’m happy the callers actually had her back. I don’t see him as a judge on a TV Show, and he’s definitely not making Lil’ Mama’s money, so he shouldn’t be talking about nobody else.

Jay-Z and Kanye West Want You To “Watch The Throne”

‘Watch The Throne’ is the new collaborative album by Kanye West and Jay-Z. The album will be released DIGITALLY on August 1st, and PHYSICALLY on August 5th.  This is one of the first times that an album has been released on a ‘Friday’ in the US. I can see this method really working, since the digital copy is gonna bring hype to the album, which will then make people go out and buy it on the 5th. The first single, “Lift Off”, which features Beyoncé, Seal, and Mr. Hudson, is expected to leak REALLY soon.

Beyonce Covers ‘Complex’ Magazine

Beyonce covers the August/September issue of Marc Ecko’s ‘Complex’ magazine. The issue features a great spread, and some really bold comments by Beyoncé. Check some of them out below, as well as a behind the scenes video of the shoot, photographed by Thierry Le Goués.

“Figuring out a way to get R&B back on the radio is challenging,” she explains. “Everything sounds the same on the radio. With 4 I tried to mix R&B from the ’70s and the ’90s with rock ‘n’ roll and a lot of horns to create something new and exciting. I wanted musical changes, bridges, vibrata, live instrumentation, and classic songwriting.”

“There is room on this earth for many queens. I have an authentic, God-given talent, drive, and longevity that will always separate me from everyone else. I’ve been fortunate to accomplish things that the younger generation of queens dream of accomplishing. I have no desire for anyone else’s throne. I am very comfortable in the throne I’ve been building for the past 15 years.”

Sorry I haven’t been posting lately. I’ve been busy getting everything together for my next semester at a new college. I’ve also been working on a list of the “Best Music Videos of All Time” for the blog. There have been many before, but I’m sure none like mine. I’ve been working day and night, watching almost every video ever created. My goal is for this list to be based solely on the creativity of the videos and innovation, instead of just choosing the best known videos. The list will be posted up by the end of this week. Thanks for continuing to support my blog! I’ll leave you all with an amazing ‘flash-mob’ video I saw today.
